Teens and young adults turning to Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram

If you’re trying to gauge what the future of the web-based communications, look no further than what youths are doing online.

Teens and young adults are increasingly tumbling for Tumblr more than using Facebook on a regular basis.

According to a survey by Y Combinator start-up Survata, 59 percent of respondents between 13 and 25 said they use Tumblr regularly while 54 percent said they use Facebook on a regular basis.

What’s even more striking is that among the 1,038 people surveyed between the ages of 13 to 18, the numbers that said use Tumblr regularly was even higher — 61 percent compared with 55 percent who use Facebook regularly.

The survey also found that 20 percent of respondents between 13 and 25 said they use Twitter regularly. That was followed by 16 percent for Instagram and 9 percent for Snapchat.
