In sharing its spirit of ‘Ohana or family in Hawaii, the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea asked me to participate in its social media contest.
I spent three splendid days in the spring at the Maui resort and was so honored to have been asked to be a judge.
I am so excited to announce this week’s winner — Anika Warden who lives in San Diego with her husband, Christopher.
She snapped this photo and posted it on Facebook with an intriguing caption:
I carefully went through the high-quality photo submissions along with their captions. Who doesn’t like cute baby pictures?
But my pick for winner No. 3 was the image of the hand with sand. I immediately felt the image connected me to my firsthand experience with the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. The description of the photography enhanced the sense of wonder and awe of the simple and small pleasure of feeling the sand and letting it go.
After my selection, I found out more about this week’s winner.
Warden told the Four Seasons Maui she decided to enter the contest because both she and her husband recently jumped career tracks. “He currently works in San Diego in a temporary role, and I work in Portland, Oregon,” she said. “He plays big fish in the startup culture and I play small fish in the corporate hierarchy, and the long distance is hard. I entered because the stress is so intense and more than ever we need a getaway that’s so much more than just a vacation!”
