Some major players in the dynamic world of digital media converged upon Orange County, Calif. today to discusss the hotest social media site this year — Pinterest.
For those who may be shy about entering into the world where more than 80 percent of U.S. users of Pinterest are women, there are some “manly” options that I wrote about earlier this week.
More than 100 public relations and marketing professionals participated in the lunch program called “PR through Pinterest: Visually Communicating Your Brand’s Story.” The montly luncheon program is a vital part of the Orange County Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s professional development opportunities.
Representatives from brands who are successfully utlizing Pinterest shared their stories on how they utilized Pinterest to engage with customers and prospective customers.
Courtesey of the OC/PRSA website, the panelists included:
Graham Kahr, Social Engagement Scientist, Zappos
Kahr’s primary focus is to create ways for customers and Zappos team members to interact on social channels regarding topics such as fashion, culture and community. Kahr does this though a variety of social channels that are relevant to Zappos and would effectively help the brand communicate its culture.
Betsy Moyer, Social Media Director, KCRW Public Radio (89.9 and KCRW.com)
Moyer is the Social Media director for public radio station KCRW which is based in Los Angeles but has a worldwide fan base thanks to a variety of online initiatives and acclaimed mobile apps. In that role, Moyer guides the station’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts while also overseeing a handful of blogs authored by various KCRW personalities. She is constantly pursuing new means to share the station’s unique content in the digital realm, including Pinterest.

Santos manages key partnerships and marketing strategies for Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. He plans, produces and executes promotional campaigns targeting Wahoo’s core audience in addition to implementing and supervising all concert and event marketing including media buying, radio promotions, street marketing, contests, and online promotions. Santos manages the Wahoo’s brand integrity and positioning through all marketing channels including Pinterest.
Nate Luman, Social Marketing Manager at Zappos.com
Nate has been involved with Zappos direct marketing for about four years. Starting on the SEM team, he managed and grew several accounts before heading up social marketing. Nate takes that same automation and scale mentality from SEM to social advertising. When he’s not working, Nate enjoys hiking, traveling, and hanging out in downtown Vegas. @ripcityrhapsody
