Southern Californians Neal Schaffer and Ted Nguyen talk with Cox TV's Terry Wedell about how businesses and individuals can effectively utilize social media.
The buzz about YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking tools is huge.
But it’s also true there are many people who don’t quite understand social media’s transformative power.
That’s one of the reasons why social media strategist and award-winning authorĀ Neal Schaffer of Windmill Networking and I appeared together at the television set of Cox Forum in southern Orange County.
We wanted to share our insights and perspectives on how businesses, governments and other agencies can utilize social media.
Social media is no longer a fad, but a necessary tool in today’s world of instant information and connectivity. After you view the video, let me know what you think.

Thanks for your input, especially mythbusting re: face-to-face meeting.
Thanks for sharing. You did a great job of sharing the basics, especially how those of us in government PR can use social media to enhance two-way communication with our key audiences. I’m really glad you pointed out that social media enhances face-to-face relationship-building. I’ve met lots and lots of great people in areas of importance to me such as marketing, cancer survivorship and spirituality through social media. It’s so great when we finally get to connect in person after getting to know each other online.
Super stars! Probably one of the best realistic Social Media 101 video, since it includes input not only about basics, but about strategy and how its currently used in the community and businesses.
Congrats Ted an Neal on another amazing opportunity to share and educate others about social media.
Enjoyed this Ted. Good 101.
